Quinta Brunson Reveals Production For Season Two Of ‘Abbott Elementary’ Has Kicked Off Amid The Copyright Infringement Lawsuit She’s Facing
It seems like Quinta Brunson isn’t letting a little copycat claim slow her down!
Earlier today (July 18) Quinta Brunson revealed via her Twitter account that production for the highly-anticipated second season of Abbott Elementary has started. She tweeted,
“First day of production for Abbott Elementary season 2.”

The series creator made headlines after news broke that she and ABC are facing a copyright infringement lawsuit over “Abbott Elementary.” Reportedly, an aspiring actress/writer named Christine Davis is alleging that her show “This School Year” and “Abbott Elementary” share the same premise. Davis claims her show was registered with the copyright office in 2020, a year before “Abbott Elementary’s” 2021 debut. She’s seeking a jury trial and demanding that,
“Brunson and ABC turn over all profits they made from the show.”

Despite what Davis is saying in her suit, Quinta Brunson has been very vocal about her own upbringing being the inspiration behind the series. The Philadelphia native previously shared how the series is named after her former teacher.
As you may already know, “Abbott Elementary” received multiple nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards. The series was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Castmembers Quinta Brunson, Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Tyler James Williams all received nominations for their performances as well.
