Kanye – L.A. Shelter Says He Hasn’t Followed Through On Helping Homeless Get Jobs & Housing
It looks like the L.A. mission isn’t too happy with Kanye West!
According to reports, the organization is frustrated he hasn’t followed through on his vow to help the homeless get jobs and housing. Sources say little to nothing has been done thus far.
While Kanye’s efforts are currently in question, he has done some good for the homeless. He previously donated 1,000 meals and spent time encouraging volunteers and L.A. residents to join in and help the Los Angeles Mission. He also held a Sunday Service at the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row back in 2019.
Troy Vaughn–President and CEO of Los Angeles Mission has since released a statement noting that the organization still wants to work with the “Praise God” rapper. Vaughn told sources:
“We have absolutely had collaborative discussions with Ye about improving the lives of the unhoused on Skid Row, especially through design as he mentioned in his tweet. We are extremely optimistic that Ye will be an instrumental force in helping us launch The Skid Row Revitalization Project in the coming months.”
While speaking with Fox 5 DC host Marissa Mitchell about whether or not Kanye West has reached out to the 10-time Grammy-Award winner, Chaka said:
“No, I’m not looking to hear from Kanye either. No, I have not heard from him and I’m not looking to hear from him. No.”
The 69-year-old vocalist continued:
“That’s what he did with his music. I was upset about sounding like a chipmunk. ‘Cause he didn’t put that when he asked could he sample my song. He didn’t mention that he was going to speed it up three times it’s normal speed.”
Chaka added:
“Had he, I would’ve had something to say. But since I didn’t think of that… believe me, I think of it now.”
