The cast of the highly-anticipated film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” paid respects to their late co-star Chadwick Boseman before filming began.
Ahead of the sequel hitting theaters this weekend, one of its stars, Lupita Nyong’o, revealed that before filming started the entire cast visited the grave of Chadwick Boseman.

The 39-year-old actress, who reprises her role as Nakia from the 2018 blockbuster “Black Panther,” was part of a cover story on the sequel for Ebony. During the interview, Lupita Nyong’o shared,
“We visited his resting place before we started filming and we had that moment as a cast.”

She continued,
“We went with the new cast who hadn’t met him as well. It was our way of continuing this journey.”
Lupita Nyong’o said,
“It really doesn’t feel like we have anything to prove to his spirit. I feel very, very centered about how we brought him along with us.”

The Academy Award-winning actress added,
“(Director) Ryan (Coogler) had an artist make this necklace that has Chadwick’s image on it and he wore it every day. So he’s been with us, he knows what we did.”
As you may recall, Chadwick Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and kept it private from the public. He passed away after a four-year battle with cancer on August 28, 2020. He was 43 at the time of his death.

According to reports, Marvel insisted shortly after Boseman’s death that they would not recast his beloved character T’challa. The studio stated they would instead dedicate the sequel to Boseman’s memory.
