Mark Zuckerberg Pens Note To Staff Following Decision To Lay Off 11,000 Employees: I’m Sharing The Most Difficult Changes We’ve Made In Meta’s History
13% of Meta employees have to look for another occupation.
Mark Zuckerberg and Meta are making headlines as they recently announced major changes that will impact a large number of staff members. Meta — formerly named Facebook, Inc. — has been making expansions in Web3. The company’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is no stranger to being scrutinized for some of the changes that have recently hit the popular social media site. However, today he has to deal with a whole different level of judgment.

On Nov. 9, Mark Zuckerberg sent out a shocking letter to Meta employees. According to the letter, the social media giant plans to lay off 11,000 of its 87,000 employees. The letter read:
“Today I’m sharing some of the most difficult changes we’ve made in Meta’s history.”
The 38-year-old continued:
“I’ve decided to reduce the size of our team by about 13% and let more than 11,000 of our talented employees go. We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a leaner and more efficient company by cutting discretionary spending and extending our hiring freeze through Q1.”
Zuckerberg noted:
“I want to take accountability for these decisions and for how we got here. I know this is tough for everyone, and I’m especially sorry to those impacted.”
He admitted:
“This is a sad moment, and there’s no way around that. To those who are leaving, I want to thank you again for everything you’ve put into this place.”
After news of the layoffs made its way online many were left wondering what would be next for Meta. Reports state that aid-off staffers will keep “health insurance for the next six months,” as well as “receive 16 weeks of pay plus two additional weeks for every year of service.”
