Garcelle Beauvais Sued For Posting Paparazzi Images Of Herself Online, Photographer Claims She’s ‘In Violation Of The US Copyright Laws’

Another Bravo star is facing an infringement lawsuit.

According to a recent report from RadarOnline, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Garcelle Beauvais was hit with a federal lawsuit recently after allegedly posting copyrighted photos to her social media.

In the lawsuit, photographer John Carta is reportedly accusing the reality star of using images he took of her in New York City without his authorization or payment to promote her business. Carta claims in the suit that he sells the images, like the ones he took of Garcelle Beauvais back in May 2020, the third parties to collect an income. The photos, according to him, pictured the TV personality:

“With her hand out, carrying a handbag, and dressed in denim shorts and a black satin-like blouse.”

Reportedly, the photo professional says that he subsequently had the images copyrighted, which requires Beauvais to pay for the photos if she’s to use them. His legal team reportedly wrote in the legal document:

“[Garcelle], without permission or authorization from [John], actively copied and/or displayed [John’s] photographs on the Account and engaged in this misconduct knowingly and in violation of the United States copyright laws.”

According to Carta, when Beauvais posted the photos to her Facebook and Instagram his copyrights were violated and the action caused him financial harm. He argues that his plans to profit from his work were disrupted, as the TV host freely shared his work.

Additionally, Carta highlighted the effort he put into creating the images. Including the selection of subject matter, timing, lighting, angle, perspective, and camera equipment. He further asserted that Beauvais’ unauthorized use of the photos contributed to her own brand and reputation while depriving him of the opportunity to sell the images as intended.

Carta is reportedly seeking an undisclosed amount in damages for the infringement and a restraining order to prevent further unauthorized use of his work.

Beauvais‘ former “RHOBH” co-star, Lisa Rinna, recently settled a similar lawsuit before it went to trial. This seemingly suggests that these copyright disputes may not be uncommon in the world of “Real Housewives.” It does not seem that Beauvais has spoken publicly about the suit at this time.
