The domestic violence case against actor Jonathan Majors has officially commenced.

Earlier today (Tuesday, June 20th), the Marvel star walked into a Manhattan courtroom hand in hand with new girlfriend Meagan Good to learn his trial will begin August 3rd.

Reportedly, Jonathan Majors appeared before court judge Rachel S. Pauley, who reminded him of his current restraining order and gave guidelines for the fall court date.

As previously reported, the 33-year-old was arrested on March 25th after allegedly physically abusing his then-girlfriend during a dispute. Reportedly, the judge reiterated to Majors he is to have “no contact whatsoever” with his ex, and must remain in compliance with court guidelines. Additionally, the judge stated that should the “Creed 3” star fail to respond to court orders or appear for the trial he could be “arrested and convicted in absentia.” The movie star reportedly acknowledged his understanding before the court hearing, which reportedly lasted a little over two minutes, came to an end.

As mentioned above, Majors was joined by his new boo, actress Meagan Good, who held his hand tightly as they arrived at court. The pair sparked dating rumors back in May of this year and fueled them further after being spotted traveling together. Sources close to the couple said their relationship blossomed into a romance as the “Harlem” actress supported him through the turbulence following his arrest.

Majors has lost and stands to lose a lot more should he be found guilty. Following his detainment, the Yale alum was dropped by his management and PR firm and additionally had endorsers like fashion label Valentino pull back from working with him. Arguably the biggest of Majors‘ concerns, however, is his relationship with Disney. Reportedly, a multi-million dollar contract with the entertainment company is on the line as Majors has already been cast as the next supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At this time, Disney has been quiet about the allegations. Reportedly, the company is waiting for the outcome of the trial before deciding if they will need to recast him or not.

As far as consequences go, if Majors is found guilty he’s reportedly facing up to a year behind bars. His legal team has insisted that forensic and video proof will assure his innocence. We will continue to update you as the trial proceeds.
