The music world is mourning the death of Casey Benjamin, a Grammy-winning saxophonist. He was 45.
His manager confirmed the news of his death with HuffPost on Monday (Apr. 1) but did not provide any details as to how he died.

Several celebrities who worked with Casey Benjamin, including “Soul Sista” singer Bilal, posted heartfelt tributes to the late saxophonist on social media.

The singer-songwriter wrote on Instagram,
“Safe journey, back home my brother, you will truly be missed. Such a talent such a kindhearted spirit.”

In addition, Derrick Hodge, who played with Casey Benjamin in the “Robert Glasper Experiment,” called the musician “a true brother and friend” in a post on Instagram. He added, in part,
“Thank you for inspiring me, for being a light in my life, and for your unbelievable influence on the music world. I will carry your smile with me, brother. And we will collectively honor and carry your legacy with us.”
Expressing shock by Benjamin’s death, Derrick Hodge continued,
“Can’t get my words together at this moment but will echo a few of my last words to you: I’m thankful for you and love you always! Rest well, King.”

“Rest In Peace Casey Benjamin. I can’t even begin to express the deep gratitude and respect. My deepest condolences to the family, fans and friends.”

Along with the “Robert Glasper Experiment,” he worked on his own project, “HEAVy,” alongside vocalist Nicky Guiland. He also did a live project tour with Patrick Stumph, of the pop-rock group Fall Out Boys.

Benjamin also worked with other musical artists, including Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, and Mary J. Blige.
