Wesley Snipes Breaks Two Guinness World Records w/ Return As Blade In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Movie
Wesley Snipes has set two Guinness World Records with his return as Blade in the new film Deadpool & Wolverine.
In a surprising cameo, the 61-year-old actor broke the record for the longest career as a live-action Marvel character.

Wesley Snipes’s return as Eric Brooks, aka Blade, comes 25 years and 340 days after he first portrayed the vampire hunter in Blade (1998).
This achievement surpasses Hugh Jackman’s record for playing Wolverine, which began with X-Men (2000).

Wesley Snipes also set a record for the longest gap between appearances as a Marvel character. Having last played Blade in Blade: Trinity (2004), he surpassed Alfred Molina’s 17-year gap as Doctor Octopus between Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Snipes shared that while he had discussions about bringing Blade back over the years, it was a call from Ryan Reynolds that finally made it happen:
“I thought it didn’t make sense to me, but [when] you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, ‘Okay, I got to take this call. Let’s see what this is about’ … He told me the idea… They said ‘yes’ and ‘it’s a go.’ ‘If you’re in, we’re in.’ Here we are.”
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Snipes’s Blade joins forces with Deadpool and Wolverine, along with other Marvel characters like Elektra, Gambit, and X-23, to battle the villain Cassandra Nova (played by Emma Corrin).

Chris Evans also made headlines with a surprise appearance, extending his record for the most feature film appearances as a Marvel superhero to 11.
