A report from the Associated Press states that the civil court awarded the plaintiff nearly 250,000 Euros ($257,000) in damages after concluding that the mixed martial arts fighter, 36, forced the woman to have sex with him against her will.
The plaintiff alleged McGregor pinned her to a bed, choked and “brutally raped and battered” her, after leaving a party with him, his friend James Lawrence who she also accused of assault, as well as her friend.
She says despite knowing the celeb was flirting with her, she was not interested in sex as she was on her period.
The victims account was supported by medical professionals who testified that she was left with extensive injuries on the night of the incident, including purple and blue bruising along her hands and wrists, a bloodied scratch to her breast and tenderness.
They also testified that she had to have her tampon removed with medical instruments.
McGregor’s legal team argued that the encounter was consensual, insisting that the case was a matter of
“extortion.”
It seems a jury disagreed, however, leaving McGregor on the hook for a hefty payout.
