Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Swims In Bacteria-Contaminated Creek w/ His Grandchildren Despite Warnings

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sparked controversy Sunday after revealing he swam in D.C.’s Rock Creek with his grandchildren, despite federal warnings.

“Mother’s Day hike in Dumbarton Oaks Park with Amaryllis, Bobby, Kick, and Jackson, and a swim with my grandchildren, Bobcat and Cassius in Rock Creek,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted on Twitter, alongside photos of himself submerged in the water.

The National Park Service clearly advises, “swimming and wading are not allowed due to high bacteria levels,” with signs posted throughout the area.

Though the swimming ban has been in place since the 1970s, enforcement is rare.

The Health Department has not responded to concerns. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., confirmed in February as HHS Secretary, has described himself and his team as “renegades” and “juggernauts against convention.”

He’s previously admitted to brain damage from a parasite and mercury poisoning from eating fish—part of his broader “Make America Healthy Again” campaign.
