Amazon Greenlights ‘Barbershop’ Series Starring Jermaine Fowler Based On Early 2000s Hit Film
Prime Video has officially greenlit “Barbershop,” a new series starring Jermaine Fowler as Travis “Trav” Porter, the grandson of a legendary Chicago barber.
Created by “Barbershop” film co-writer Marshall Todd and co-showrun with Max Searle, the show will revive Calvin’s iconic shop with fresh faces and classic banter.
“The fades are still the dopest in the city,” teased the logline. Amazon MGM Studios’ Vernon Sanders called the adaptation “hilarious and innovative,” adding, “We couldn’t be happier.”
Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and Prominent Productions are producing.
It’s unclear if the original cast will make an appearance.
