Ex-NFL Star Henry Ruggs Apologizes To Family Of Woman He Killed In 2021 Drunk Driving Crash: ‘Wish I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time’
Henry Ruggs III publicly addressed the family of Tina Tintor this week, years after the 2021 car crash that killed the 23-year-old woman and her dog.
The former NFL wide receiver was granted special leave from prison to speak at a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas on Tuesday, June 17. Ruggs apologized directly to Tintor’s loved ones, saying,
“One, I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something.”

He continued,
“I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it’s always in the newspaper. So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me.”
In November 2021, authorities said Ruggs was driving 156 mph while intoxicated when he slammed into the back of Tintor’s car, causing it to catch fire. She and her 3-year-old dog, Max, died at the scene.
Ruggs pleaded guilty in May 2023 to one count of DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
