Nelly Surprises Fans w/ St. Lunatics Reunion Album + Metro Boomin Set To Executive Produce Their First Project In 25 Years
Excitement is building in St. Louis as Nelly revealed a major reunion moment that longtime fans have waited decades to hear.
During the Black and White Ball in St. Louis on Sunday, December 14, Nelly announced that Metro Boomin will executive produce the first St. Lunatics album in 25 years.
During the event, he told the crowd, “St. Lunatics 2026 executive produced by Metro Boomin. St. Louis, we in the building, we turning up 2026 one time!”
The news marks a major milestone for the group, whose legacy has long been complicated by internal conflict. Nelly and Ali’s years-long dispute over royalties and credit led to a lawsuit tied to “Country Grammar,” though the case was ultimately dropped in April 2025.
The St. Lunatics’ only album, “Free City”
(2001), reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum. While it’s unclear which members will appear on the new project, Metro Boomin’s involvement signals a high-profile comeback for the St. Louis collective.
