Tamar Braxton Address Beef With Toya Wright

Tamar Braxton has made it clear she is a woman of many words. Amidst her beef with Toya Wright, Tamar has been busy working on her new television shows, rehearsals for her performance at the 2017 BET Awards, and her new music. In a new interview, Braxton discusses what has kept her busy for the past few months, infidelity and the entire fall-out with Toya. Peep the excerpts below.

On her argument with Toya Wright via Instagram:

I don’t go back and forth with anybody. Not even the Devil.

On the argument:

The whole thing came about was because the day before it was Logan’s birthday, I got tagged on ‘Happy birthday, Logan’ from Tiny; which is Logan’s Godmom. TIP [Tiny’s husband] was saying me and Tiny need to stop being a diva and makeup. So, I just thought it was the sweetest gesture ever. That’s why I decided to send a public apology to my dearest friend, Tiny. I felt like they [TIP and Tiny] made the attempt to extend an olive branch. I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody, definitely.

On why she decided to set the record straight:

I just wanted to state the facts. It’s been a lot of speculation because Tiny and I had ‘friendship falling out,’ it wasn’t about people have been saying. It wasn’t about that show, and it wasn’t about what Toya was saying. She did go on a media tour, and wrote a book about how she felt I was a horrible friend. It was hurtful to me. The was the first time I had heard it was on the radio.

Toya on ‘The Real’

On Toya’s appearance on The Real:

I never want anybody to think I’m trying to hold them back. I’m not that kind of girl. I don’t even think like that. So when I was on the show, she never even reached out to me and said she wanted to be on the show. Now, I’m not the talent-booker – I’m the talent – I have absolutely no power on who comes on the show.

On why she didn’t promote Toya’s last book:

When you work for certain companies – or corporations – they don’t want you to tweet or ‘Instagram’ about certain things. And that’s in your contract. So, you have to kind of run things by them. They didn’t really dig it, and I told her what they said. And I guess she didn’t believe me.

On what she wants to say to Toya:

Toya if you’re listening, baby, I have absolutely positively no reason to stop you from getting your shine on. I want you to win. I love Reginae. I want everybody to win.

On how she felt after her social media showdown with Toya:

I make the choice to be a good person. You know, I don’t know where she got that from. It’s hurtful to know that it was nice gesture that I went to her brother’s funeral. And that, basically, economically made sure all of her friends were there. Its also hurtful to feel that your friends feel a certain way about you, behind your back.

On what’s next:

There is a lot of things happening in the fall. I have a couple of shows that are on television.

On the response to her new single, “My Man”:

I’m so humbled by the response of it. I never thought this would be a record that people instantly understand. When I wrote it, I wrote it about my parents. It’s just been an amazing to a be voice to people who have been cheated on.

On her new album:

I’m excited about my album, though. Things are happening. The BET performance; things will be happening after the performance, so you just have to wait and see. I’m just excited about the future!

On what fans can expect on the new season of Braxton Family Values:

On this season, we got into a lot with that [infidelity], and my parents. And we [Braxton sisters] actually came to terms and confronted my father’s new wife. That’s really why the song came up.

On cheating:

If you’re not going to leave your man. Let him cheat in peace. I ain’t saying let him cheat! But if you ain’t gone do nothing, have several seats.
