No Surprise, Here: Lupita Nyong’o Stuns At The Hollywood Reporter Nominee Party
Lupita Nyong’o’s red carpet take-over continues. Monday night (February 10th), we caught the actress hitting the red carpet at The Hollywood Reporter’s 2014 Nominee Party. Held at Beverly Hills’ Spago night club, the 12 Years A Slave actress wore a couture cutout dress by Valentino, jewelry by Mizuki and clutch by Judith Leiber. Earlier in the day, she was spotted at the Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon.
The 30-year-old actress is covering the Spring Fashion issue of New York magazine, where she recounts a story where she was almost discouraged about pursuing acting. She worked as a production assistant on the set of The Constant Gardener, where she got to know Ralph Fiennes. She shared:
He asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and I very timidly admitted that I was interested in being an actor. He sighed and said, ‘If there’s something else that you want to do, do that. Only act if you feel you can’t live without it.’ It wasn’t what I wanted to hear, but it was the thing I needed to hear.
Thankfully, she stayed persistent and listened to her own voice, within. In just a few short weeks, she may very well take home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. In the meantime, check out a few of our favorite Lupita looks.
