(EXCLUSIVE) Russell Simmons Denies Stealing Photographer’s Work, Wants Lawsuit Dismissed
industry that he shot the photos. He accused Simmons and his website of using his Rick Ross image without permission. He also claims that Global Grind refuses to take it down once he contacted them about the alleged copyright infringement. He filed suit demanding no less than 50k and an injunction against Simmons from using ANY of his photos in the future.
Then on October 29th, Simmons fired back at the photographers allegations claiming Djerrahian has no case against him. He says that the photos were not registered for a copyright when he posted them. Simmons explains that 2 years after the articles featuring the Rick Ross image is when he obtained a copyright, meaning he cannot sue him for damages because he did nothing wrong by putting them on Global Grind. Simmons is demanding the entire lawsuit be dismissed and the photographer be awarded nothing from the lawsuit.
