50 Cent Trashes “Super Fly” Remake & Director X
50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) is not a fan of the “Super Fly” movie remake. The classic 70’s blaxploitation film was a crime drama film directed by Gordon Parks, Jr. and starring Ron O’Neal as Youngblood Priest, an African American cocaine dealer who is trying to quit the underworld drug business. The legendary movie was redone this year and the resulting project has received mixed reviews. Written by Alex Tse and directed by Director X, the updated version of the film is based in Atlanta. It stars Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, Michael K. Williams, Lex Scott Davis, and Jennifer Morrison, following a career criminal who tries to get out of the Atlanta drug scene, only to have one bad deal put him in harm’s way.

The outspoken rapper and mogul took to social media weighing in on the film. He wrote,
This one was just too good, the new shit was weak. Little X made a 2 hour music video? The snow patrol with white clothes, white car and white guns. Where they do that at. get the strap
Producer and reality star Stevie J gave his thoughts on the Super Fly reboot writing,
I fuq wit it and soundtrack was ah vibe.
Not swayed by Stevie J, 50 responded,
They should have called it something different.
“Super Fly’s” director, got his start in the music video circuit under the name Little X. The Canadian director also directed G-Unit’s 2003 “Poppin’ Them Thangs” music video. Their history however, did not stop 50 Cent from slamming the film. Many folks feel that classics should be left alone, others still are more optimistic.
While X has not yet responded to 50 Cent’s criticism, he is focused on folks checking the film out for themselves.
