Nipsey Hussle’s Friend Confined To A Wheelchair After Shooting, Arrested For Conversing With Late Rapper
As if matters couldn’t get worse concerning the details of the fatal shooting of Nipsey Hussle, his friend, Kerry Lathan, was not only injured in the shooting (leading to him to have to be in a wheelchair) but was also arrested for talking with Hussle.
He’s currently in downtown L.A.’s Men’s Central Jail as authorities attempt to revoke his parole, according to reports.
Hussle was shot while getting clothes for Lathan from his South L.A. store, The Marathon. Lathan had just finished a 20-year murder sentence, and Hussle was helping him get new clothes when he had an alleged encounter with the gunman, Eric Holder.
Holder is said to have opened fire on Hussle, Lathan and a third man. While Hussle passed away from his wounds, Lathan was injured and is now in a wheelchair as a result of the shooting.
Now, Lathan is facing even more consequences. Apparently, police say he violated his parole when he spoke with Hussle, who has gang-related ties. Hussle was once a member of the Rollin 60’s Crips.
Interestingly enough, Hussle once spoke out about making it out of the gang lifestyle.
“In my section of the Crenshaw District in the Rollin’ 60s, none of my peers survived. None of my peers avoided prison. None of ’em. Everybody got bullet wounds and felonies and strikes. So to make it out mentally stable and not in prison and not on drugs, that’s a win. That’s a victory in itself. Then to be in the position I find myself in as an artist and entrepreneur who has respect around the world — that’s legendary. And I say it in the most humble way.”
Meek Mill spoke about issues with the justice system amid news of Lathan’s arrest.
