Lil Nas X Received Homophobic Responses After Coming Out, Dwyane Wade Offers Encouragement
Country-trap rapper Lil Nas X recently made fans aware that he, unfortunately, has both the horses and the homophobic slurs in the back. To the surprise of many, the “Old Town Road” star took to Twitter to come out on World Pride Day.

With that announcement came some homophobic remarks, bashing the breakout star for opening up about his sexuality. He posted a heartbreaking animation of a sad gun-toting cowboy emoji face with the following humorous caption:
“@lilnasx say one more home of phobic thing to me”

Celebrities such as producer/DJ Diplo, Shangela of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and rapper Anderson Paak supported Lil Nas X in the comment section.

But, perhaps, the most poignant word of encouragement came from NBA champion Dwyane Wade. He told Lil Nas:
“Focus on all the good in your life. Don’t allow these fools get to you. It’s a lot of us out here proud of who and what you represent”

Notably, Dwyane and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, supported their 11-year-old son, Zion‘s, participation in the Miami Gay Pride parade. He hinted at his son’s sexuality, pointing out that his job is to support his child no matter the circumstance. He said:
“I don’t really talk about it much because it’s Zion’s story to tell. I think as a family, we should support each other. That’s our job. And my job as a father is to facilitate their lives and to support them and be behind them in whatever they want to do.”
