CNN To Launch All Black Panel Show Featuring Angela Rye, Bakari Sellers, April Ryan & Andrew Gillum
CNN is reportedly on track to kick off a brand new show with an all-black panel.
Angela Rye, April Ryan, Bakari Sellers and Andrew Gillum, who are no strangers to CNN, are said to be the top picks.
The idea came after the four appeared on “New Day With Alisyn Camerota and John Berman” during the Democratic debates last week, and got a pretty popular response.
During their appearance, they couldn’t help but laugh at Senator and Presidential hopeful Cory Booker’s delivery of what he said was a phrase in the Black community.
During the debate Booker said,
“There’s a saying in my community that you’re dipping into the Kool-Aid and you don’t even know the flavor.”
Ryan said in response,
“I have to say this. Senator Booker, you know I love you, man. But I could just see you going, oh, here comes my time. Here comes the Kool-Aid.”
Sellers added,
“But with black phrases you don’t enunciate, like, every word.
He then corrected Booker and said,
“You all up in the Kool-Aid, and you don’t even know the flavor.”
One insider said,
“It was the most excitement on that morning show since Chris Cuomo left as co-anchor. CNN is fast-tracking talks … to develop it into a stand-alone show. The early chatter is that it could start as a weekend show that would rival MSNBC’s programming with Joy Reid, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Kendis Gibson.”
It looks like their chemistry is already on point.
