A$AP Rocky Found Guilty In Assault Case, Won’t Have To Go To Jail

A$AP Rocky was handed a guilty verdict in his ongoing assault case.

Fortunately for A$AP, while prosecutors wanted the court to sentence him to at least six months, he won’t have to go back to jail. The court determined that the incident wasn’t

“of such a serious nature.”

The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was charged after footage of him fighting a man, Mustafa Jafari, 19, in Sweden surfaced in July. He pleaded not guilty and insisted he was acting in self-defense. Jafari was not charged or jailed.

He was arrested after the fight and spent more than three weeks in jail as he waited for the country to decide if it would charge him.

During his time behind bars, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West lobbied with the White House to try to convince Sweden to release him. While they got Donald Trump’attention, Sweden refused to be persuaded and reiterated that they don’t have a bail system.

Other celebrities also signed a petition to free the rapper after it was reported he was being held in harsh conditions.

Once the country decided to charge him, he went on trial earlier this month. While he was allowed to return to the U.S. once the trial wrapped, he has now been found guilty just days later.

He said over the weekend, during his first concert since being released, that he was hoping the verdict would go another way.

“I just wanna say once again…I’m so f***in’ happy to be here. I know y’all was praying for me. I’m gonna need y’all to keep praying for me. Hopefully with God’s will I’m not guilty. I get the verdict on Wednesday, so I need y’all to keep praying for me. Hopefully we ain’t gotta go back to jail or nothing like that… nothing crazy.”

“I don’t got nothing against Swedish people cause they were protesting right outside the jails. It was people from Swedish jails writing me… held it down. This is an unfortunate event and I’m just trying to stay blessed. Hopefully I’m not guilty, so pray for your boy.”
