Rick Fox was not in the helicopter crash that sadly killed Kobe Bryant today (January 26th). After news hit that Kobe Bryant had passed in the crash, unconfirmed reports began to surface that Rick Fox, who played with Kobe Bryant, was also onboard.
Rick Fox’s stepdaugther Lion Babe posted a message noting that he was okay. She wrote on social media:
Just to clear the air my step dad @imrickafox is safe and was NOT killed on the helicopter this morning, so PLEASE do not spread false news! Our family is in mourning and shocked along with the rest of the world. ? #rip to an amazing man and spirit.
As previously reported, at approximately 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on January 26, 2020, Bryant and four others were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
According to reports, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, was on the helicopter with him, along with her teammate and her teammate’s parent.
Initial reports indicated that the Sikorsky S-76 crashed in the mountains above Calabasas in heavy fog. The incident is under investigation.
