Aaron Hernandez’s Former Fiancée Speaks On His Sexuality: If He Did Feel That Way, I Wish I Was Told
The former fiancée of late NFL star, Aaron Hernandez, is finally speaking out about the wildly popular Netflix documentary on his life. Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez covers his struggles with CTE, his murder conviction, tragic suicide, and, controversially, his secret sexuality. Dennis Sansoucie, a teammate on Aaron’s high school football team, detailed a secret sexual relationship in the doc.
During Wednesday’s (Jan.29) interview with ABC News, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez says she was unaware of this relationship:
“[He was] certainly a man to me. There was no behavior that made me think differently…I would not have loved him any differently.”
Shayanna continued:
“You can’t describe someone’s sexuality without them being here. Although I have a child with Aaron, I still can’t tell you how he was feeling inside. No one can.”
Shayanna, who was Aaron Hernandez’s fiancee and the mother of his child at the time of his suicide, broke down in tears, detailing that she wishes he would have shared that information with her prior to his passing:
“If he did feel that way or if he felt the urge, I wish that I… was told. And I wish that he- you know, he would’ve told me, ’cause I wouldn’t, I would not have loved him any differently. I would have understood. It’s not shameful and I don’t think anybody should be ashamed of who they are inside, regardless of who they love. I think it’s a beautiful thing, I just wish I was able to tell him that…You start to feel for people that may be hiding inside how they really feel. And I…feel awful for that.”
