Meghan Markle’s Former Co-Star Says British Tabloids Offered Him $70K To Lie About Their History: We Never Even Kissed
While Meghan Markle tries to navigate through her post-royal family life following her and Prince Harry’s exit, more accusations are coming out about how badly the British media allegedly treated her.
Now, Simon Rex, who co-starred in 2005’s Cuts with Meghan Markle, has claimed that the British tabloids allegedly went as far as offering him money to lie about his history with the former “Suits” star.
He said while on the “Hollywood Raw” podcast that tabloids in the U.K. allegedly attempted to bribe him with up to $70,000 if he exaggerated their past.
He said,
“Nothing happened. We never even kissed. It was just, like, we hung out once in a very non-dated way. She was just someone I had met on a TV show and we got lunch. That was the extent of it.”
“When that story broke, a couple British tabloids offered to pay me a lot of money to say a lie that we actually hooked up. I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and f–king up the royal f–king family.”
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have filed a lawsuit against a British tabloid for the news they’ve reported about Markle. Prince Harry said in a statement,
“There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behaviour, because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level. We won’t and can’t believe in a world where there is no accountability for this.”
