Gayle King Confronted 50 Cent About His Beef With Oprah, 50 Says: Gayle Is The Real Deal!
Notorious for his social media posts in which he pokes fun at other fellow celebrities – rapper/actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson recently admitted that he’s not exempt from being checked for his antics. His upcoming book, “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter,” details a time where he was confronted by “CBS This Morning” anchor, Gayle King, in defense of her best friend – media mogul, Oprah Winfrey. According to Page Six, 50 wrote that the talking-to took place at a party for Bette Midler‘s foundation:
“Gayle is the real deal — a very sophisticated, secure, and smart lady. She’s never afraid of a situation…so she marched right up to me and basically said, ‘Why you talkin’ sh*t about my girl?'”
Their confrontation was in response to how 50 Cent once dismissed Oprah Winfrey as having an “older audience,” after she repeatedly criticized the hip-hop community on her famed show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” In his book, he reportedly even admits that he uses fake beef as publicity. 50 allegedly told Gayle:
“Listen, I’d love to be Oprah’s friend. But if we can’t be friends, could we at least be enemies?”
He continued:
“Before meeting me, they had bought into the 50 Cent persona…Someone who got into beefs and drama because he just couldn’t help himself. But when I said, ‘At least let me be an enemy,’ they understood that when I got into a beef, it was never driven by emotion. Instead, I was moving off of strategy.”
Gayle King reportedly orchestrated 50 Cent’s meeting with Oprah Winfrey for his 2012 appearance on “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” But the kumbaya didn’t last long. 50 eventually attacked Oprah and Gayle again in response to their respective involvement in a documentary over Russell Simmons‘ rape allegations, and Gayle pressing Lisa Leslie about sexual assault allegations against late NBA star Kobe Bryant.
“Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter” by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson hits bookstores on April 28th.
