Kierra Sheard’s Latest Album Ends Kanye West’s 6-Month Run
Kierra “KiKi” Sheard is in celebration mode after learning her latest album, Kierra, has made it to the number one spot on the Billboard Gospel Charts! Kierra Sheard excitedly took to her Instagram to share the news with her fans.
The coveted number one Billboard Gospel chart spot had previously held by none other than rap artist and entrepreneur Kanye West for six months with his Jesus Is King album, which was released in November 2019. However, the Grammy and Stellar Award winner wanted to make it very clear that she is NOT in competition with Kanye West in any way.
She wrote,
“As this is not an ill competition but a race/journey that we are on to win souls and uplift the world with the message of Jesus Christ, hope, love, and more. I’ve been a fan of Kanye’s music. I’on won’t no smoke! Lmbo but I’m super honored to have been chosen to have been apart of this moment in music history. Thank you @billboard for this highlight on gospel music. God is faithful and His message and love still conquers all! I hope you’re still listening to my new music and are being empowered! #faith #itKeepsHappening #love #iCantBelieveIt“
The Kierra album was released April 17 and boasts vocal contributions from other Gospel stars such as Le’Andria Johnson, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and Kierra Sheard’s nephew Jacob Sheard. “Kierra” includes her singles “It Keeps Happening” and “Something Has To Break” as well as the powerful anthem “Don’t Judge Me” featuring Missy Elliott.
Kierra Sheard has reason to continue to be joyous since her curvy-focused clothing fashion line, Eleven60, which is available at macys.com, is celebrating its fifth anniversary and the Lifetime biopic, “The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel,” in which she portrayed her mother, Grammy Award-winning Gospel singer Karen Clark Sheard, made history as the highest-rated original movie of the year across all television with 2.7 million viewers.
