ABC Renews ‘Black-Ish’ & ‘Mixed-Ish,’ Cancels Tiffany Haddish’s ‘Kids Say The Darndest Things’
Major television network ABC has officially decided how they’re moving forward with a few of our favorite shows. Creator Kenya Barris is in for good news, considering both of his shows – Golden Globe/NAACP Image Award-winning “Black-Ish” and its spin-off “Mixed-Ish” – were renewed! “Black-Ish” will return for its seventh season, while “Mixed-Ish” will return for its second.
Both shows are loosely based on Kenya Barris’ life with his wife, Dr. Rania Barris. Their characters are played by celebrated actors Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
Character Rainbow Johnson’s life story of being one of few biracial children in her school in the 80s is told in “Mixed-Ish,” with Tracee Ellis Ross narrating the script. Actress Tika Sumpter of Tyler Perry‘s OWN hit, “The Haves and the Have Nots,” plays Rainbow’s mother, Alicia. To top it off, biracial music icon Mariah Carey sings the theme song!
Tracee Ellis Ross and Marsai Martin celebrated the news on Instagram.

Meanwhile, ABC has chosen to end their revival of the hilarious children’s comedy show, “Kids Say the Darndest Things,” hosted by Tiffany Haddish. From 1998 to 2000, it was hosted by Bill Cosby, with Tiffany’s version airing its only season last year.
