Trey Songz On Debuting His Son’s Mom & Taking A Hiatus From Social Media: I Just Want To Live My Life
Trey Songz has been intentionally quiet about his life as a dad. He welcomed his son Noah last year and waited until his first birthday to reveal who the mother is.

The “Bottoms Up” singer shared a picture (April 22) of himself, his baby mama, and their son, Noah, on his IG page. Underneath the photos, Songz penned a heartfelt message to Noah’s mother.
“I’m obsessed; we did that, YOU did that! You’re a great Mother and you deal with all the extra’s very gracefully,” Songz captioned. “I’ll always be eternally grateful to you Noah’s Mumma.”
But Tuesday (May 26), R&B artist Trey Songz sat down with Devin Steel for an Instagram Live interview and answered many questions about. sharing photos of his son with the world, the mother of his child, and taking a break from social media.

Trey Songz said:
It was huge….First of all it was a moment that I wanted for myself before anybody else got to take the joy, like, put their notion in the world as to what was what. I’m super private, and the complexity there is that you’re a private person, but a public entertainer. More now than ever your lifestyle is kind of synonymous with people f***ing with you. They want to know it no matter how big you are.
He continued:
When you’re doing that, you know as many people love it in a positive sense, [but] it’s [also] going to be negativity so it’s really a sense of letting go of the control that you have when you do let yourself be that vulnerable… I know my fans are happy. In the beginning, it was very much like ‘Who’s the mother?’ That’s one thing I don’t like about sharing my business.

He went on to speak on the comments he received after unveiling the identity of the mother of his child.
The moment that you allow a passing comment by somebody you do not know to [affect] you f*ck up your whole day, that’s when you too far gone, you know. That’s one of the reason I actually took a break off Instagram because Instagram is a place where I think people are too in too much in concern of what other people are doing. I think it’s good to be in a note of current trends or following your favorite artists, following your family members, but I think a break from social media is good for everybody because you don’t realize how misplaced your focus is sometimes when you on social media.
He continued:
For me it was more like sh*t I just want to live my life. I [would] wake up, brush my teeth, wash my face, and then I’m on Instagram. Like, I ain’t with that. That ain’t want I want to do with my time and, furthermore, just the overall sense of negativity that’s winning in the social atmosphere.
Last year, Trey Songz shared a part of his life, becoming a father, with the world on Instagram. The 35-year-old songwriter debuted his son on social media by posting a picture of his tiny feet with a blue heart as the caption.
