Actor Shameik Moore Mentions Rosa Parks In New Clip, Sparks Mixed Reactions

Actor Shameik Moore has more shocking opinions regarding police brutality and civil rights. Just yesterday, (5/28/20) Shameik Moore took to Twitter in reaction to a viral video of a Black man being arrested by the police. Shameik Moore says that Black people need to learn how to interaction with cops:

“See I have a very strong opinion that the black community hates to hear..but needs to hear…we need to learn how to deal with police…and or racism…because THIS is the part of the scenario we have failed to fix…People are dying and we’re all handling it differently. Um, power hungry policemen should absolutely be reprimanded. Should absolutely be punished for their behavior, for how their handling us. For taking our brothers, our sisters, our fathers, our mothers…What I was speaking to, was de-escalating situations. You know, is there another way to handle those situations?”

The “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” star later held an Instagram Live session in attempt to further explain his stance. While doing so, he used Rosa Parks as an example. Shameik Moore appears to suggest that Rosa Parks could have avoided her historic run-in with Montgomery police differently by taking a Black-owned transportation system instead of the public bus, where African-Americans were forced to sit in the back. Shameik said:

“Rosa Parks, sitting at the front of the bus- right? What we don’t know as a Black community is that- his family, Dr. Claude Anderson, had Black-owned taxi cabs and Black buses that could’ve been used during that time.”

He continued:

“This is something that a lot of people might not wanna hear. I should probably have this conversation with an OG…”

Again, social media flooded timelines with criticism of the young actor.
