Meagan Good & DeVon Franklin Celebrate Their 8 Year Wedding Anniversary
Actress Meagan Good and her husband DeVon Franklin are celebrating 8 years of being married this week (June 16). The two met on the set of 2011’s Jumping the Broom, which starred Meagan Good while Devon Franklin was a producer on the film.
DeVon Franklin wished his wife a happy anniversary along with a video of himself rapping to Meagan who looks on hilariously unimpressed by her husband’s rapping skills. Devon wrote,
“I’m blessed 2 have u as my 1 Love @meagangood! Happy Anniversary my love!?”
Meagan Good also posted her own anniversary message to Devon with the caption,
“8 Years Down .. Eternity To Go. Happy Anniversary My Lover Of Life @DeVonFranklin”.
The couple previously discussed staying celibate until their wedding night, and from time to time the couple gives relationship advice. Back in 2018, DeVon was giving some relationship advice about dating and marriage, and posted a photo with the caption,
“Acting married when you’re not can set you up for heartbreak. #TheWait”.”
In the pic you can see three wedding rings stacked together and the following statement.
There’s a time to act like husband and wife, but it doesn’t come until you’re actually married-until you have that indelible commitment to each other. #thewait”
In 2016, Meagan and DeVon released a book titled, “The Wait” where the couple discussed their decision to wait until marriage to have sex,
“Everything has changed dramatically since I stopped picking and choosing which parts of the Bible I would follow. When I stopped and focused on the hardest thing, which is sex, I watched my life and career change.”
Devon also spoke about why celibacy is so important in society:
We need to start looking at how we date. We need to start talking about sex in
our community. We can start to consider another way to do this that will produce more peace and better health— spiritually, mentally and emotionally. We can put ourselves on a path to healing and reconciling relationships.
Back In December, Meagan opened up to Tamron Hall about how she knew that DeVon was the one for her,
“It’s really interesting because we had met four years prior to working on ‘Jumping The Broom.’ He was the executive on ‘Jumping The Broom’, I was the actress on the film. And I was in the tail end of a not so great relationship. We just weren’t right for each other. I really got a chance to get to know [Devn] on set. I thought ‘Man that’s the kind of guy I wish I could marry.’ And that was it. He’s the guy who gives you the job, that’s all I thought about it.”
She added,
“And then I got back from Nova Scotia filming and I was like ‘Man Lord I’m at a really hard place. I’m at a standstill in my life. What am I supposed to be doing?’ The first thing that God told me was that it was time to get out of that relationship. The second thing that God told me was that it was time to celibate. And the third thing that God told me was that Devon was my husband.”
“I was like ‘Okay. So…’ And I didn’t know him that well. I was like ‘So what I do Lord?’ And God was just like ‘Nothing. Just work on yourself.’ So I spent the next nine months healing, working on damage from childhood, growing up in the business, things you just go through in life. And about five months in I started telling friends and family that Devon was my husband. And they were like ‘Really? Does he know that?’ I’m like ‘No.’”
Happy Anniversary to DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good!
