Kanye West Says His Pro-Life Stance Has Helped People ‘Decide To Have A Child’, Suggests God Wanted Him To Crash Taylor Swift’s VMA Speech
Kanye West has been in the news frequently for controversial comments he’s made towards his own wife, daughter, and his presidential campaign.
Recently, Kanye West sat down with Nick Cannon for an episode of the Cannon’s Class podcast and took the time to further explain some of his recent comments and infamous moments that have taken place throughout his career. While speaking with Nick Cannon, the ‘Good Life’ rapper addressed the speech he gave earlier this summer in South Carolina during a campaign rally where he revealed that his wife, Kim Kardashian, almost terminated her pregnancy with their first child North West.
He said,
“For anyone who wants to tear me down for crying, you realize that because of South Carolina, there are people who have decided to have a child? Because they connected.”
He added,
“And if they were on the fence about it, they never saw anyone in my position take that position and say, ‘Look at this. This is a seven-year-old right here. And she might have never made it here.’”

During his South Carolina rally, Kanye West also shared that his own dad wanted to abort him. However, he told Nick Cannon that he later apologized to his father for publically sharing that.
“So when I talk to my father, my father made me apologize to him for bringing this up publicly. He also said that the abortion culture teaches people that a child isn’t a real soul. And it was my wife that said, ‘This is a soul.’ And the scariest thing is, she had the pills — you know, you take these pills, you take them and the next morning the baby’s gone — she had the pills in her hand.”
The Yeezy brand owner also shared that the name for his political party, The Birthday Party, was inspired by the pro-life/pro-choice debate.
“I can only give God the glory because of the connection point to the Birthday Party is dealing with life and pro-life. Because these are kids that are now gonna get a chance to have birthdays.”
In addition to speaking about his political beliefs, Kanye West opened up about the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards moment where he interrupted Taylor Swift while she was giving her acceptance speech on stage. He said,
“If God didn’t want me to run on stage and say, ‘Beyoncé had the best video,’ he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row. I would’ve been sitting in the back. He wouldn’t have made it the first award. And [He] wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous of an idea ’cause I had never heard of this person before that night.”
He added,
“And ‘Single Ladies’ is like one of the greatest videos of all time … And I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show ’cause it was a set-up!”
