EXCLUSIVE: Latocha Scott Confirms Xscape Biopic Is Still In The Works + Wants Naturi Naughton To Portray Her In The Film

It looks there is some good news for fans of the singing group Xscape! In an exclusive interview with theJasmineBRAND, LaTocha Scott, member of the multi-platinum selling R&B group revealed that a biopic for the group is in the works. When asked about the rumored project, LaTocha Scott had this to say:

“Well we’ve been in talks you know, all of us, all four girls are ready for this to happen. We’re making sure that the people that are getting involved is who we want to be involved with this because when you do a life story that’s it. You can’t go back and change anything, you can’t go erase anything so we just want to make sure it’s done right.”

LaTocha Scott went on to reveal that she and her group members have already begun to discuss who they would like to portray them in the film.

“We’ve already kind of talked about who we want to play the roles of each and every one of us. I know Tiny talked about [her daughter] Zonnique playing her in the movie. And then my sister wants my niece to play her because you know they both act just alike.”

LaTocha then added that people have been suggesting actress Naturi Naughton to portray her in the biopic:

“Naturi from the show Power – everyone says ‘Oh my gosh, you guys look alike.’ Plus she can sing. I talked to her at BET Her when we had to perform that night and she was like ‘I would love to.’ So we’re kind of just making sure the people who we bring in to play us really does the part.”

The idea of an Xscape biopic has been teased for a few years now. Back in 2017, the group, whose members are LaTocha and Tamika Scott, Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris, reunited.

At the time, sources exclusively told theJasmineBRAND that the group was seriously considering a biopic.

“There’s serious interest from a number of parties about this. They’ve received multiple offers and deals are already on the table. People want to see this story. No one REALLY knows their story. Fans have heard bits and pieces of how they started and what broke them up, but no one call tell their story like them.”
