Gilbert Arenas Says Celebrities Should Take Photos With Their Fans, Even When They Are Out W/ Their Family
Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas (38), is sharing his opinion on an interesting topic. During a recent episode of his podcast, “The No Chill Podcast“, the topic of fans approaching celebrities while out in public surfaced and the the NBA star had an interesting stance. Gilbert expressed that celebrities should take pictures with their fans, even if they are out with their family.
” So If you’re at dinner and someone wants to take a picture, and you’re like, ‘oh no I’m having a quiet time with my family’. Stop. Just take the picture and go back to eating.”
Gilbert Arenas’s cohost, Mike Botticello, quickly interrupted, disagreeing with Gilbert’s opinion. Gilbert went on to reflect on a time when he was out eating with his family and a fan approached him. That fan explained to Gilbert why they chose to approach him in that moment which then changed Gilbert’s outlook on the matter.

” He [a fan] caught me before I was getting ready to– I looked down and he was like, ‘Wait, I’m probably never going to see you again. This is my only chance. I would have waited until you got outside to do it, but I don’t know when you’re going to get up. So I would just rather, before your food comes, we could take the picture and I can go on my way.’ And I had to think about what he was saying–you’re right.”

Gilbert Arenas went on to give a hypothetical scenario if he was meeting Halle Berry for the first time, and admitted that he would more than likely approach her versus waiting. He later explained that he tries to think about it from a fans point of view. Gilbert said,
“You gotta think about it. When they come up to you at dinner, they just spotted you. So when they watch you on TV– , they got you on the wall. Its one of those things, you have to understand that. I don’t think as athletes we don’t really understand that part of it.”
