Damon Dash Seemingly Threatens Rachel Roy’s Lawyer During Hearing Over Late Child Support Payments
Damon Dash doesn’t seem to be too happy with his ex-wife, Rachel Roy, or her attorney at the moment. According to reports, 49-year-old Damon Dash verbally threatened Rachel Roy’s lawyer, Donnell Suares, during a virtual court hearing that occurred Thursday, February 25. The court hearing took place because Damon Dash is allegedly behind on his child support payments again. During the heated exchange, Damon Dash reportedly told Donnell Suares,
“I can make you famous, too, because you keep playing with my family.”
He added,
“You keep playing on purpose to make me pay.”
Following Damon Dash’s remarks, Rachel Roy’s lawyer asked the judge to make sure the well-known music producer doesn’t threaten him or his client again. He reportedly said,
“He’s threatening me now sir. Could you please advise the defendant not to threaten me or my client?”
The Manhattan Supreme Court Judge overseeing the case responded to Donnell Suares’ request and reportedly said,
“I think he said he’s going to make you famous … I think Mr. Suares would be very content not to be famous as long as his client gets what she is entitled to.”
However, Damon Dash seemed to be holding his ground on what he said. He allegedly followed up with,
“[Rachel Roy] is going to get her money but I’m making him famous.”
This isn’t the first time that Damon Dash has been in the news for allegedly being behind on child support payments. Damon Dash has four children in total (2 with Rachel Roy) and in November 2019 he was arrested for allegations that he owed close to $400,000 in back child support. Following his release from police custody, Damon Dash took to his Instagram to share a video statement on what happened. He said,
“They never talk about the fact that I’ve owned a $100 million company for the last 10 years. They don’t talk about my television network, 24 hours, independent. Or Dame Dash Studios streaming service… independent. They never talk about those things. That’s what I’m curious about, that narrative… Why is the narrative always I’m broke? When the President owes money it don’t mean s***, he gets elected. When I’m a businessman, I’m independent, I cut checks, and I make sure everyone knows it… But y’all don’t talk about that. And that’s what I wanna know. Is it because I’m Black? A Black man can’t take care of other people without being broke or independent?”
He added,
“I went to turn myself in. What money? I already paid it. And I still walked in with cuffs. But I look good though so it doesn’t matter.”

Towards the end of last year, Damon Dash and Lee Daniels reportedly ironed out a $5 million settlement agreement in Dash’s suit against his former business partner. Following that announcement, news broke that Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales (Dash’s ex-girlfriend/mother of one of his children) reportedly asked the court to make him use a portion of his settlement fund to pay the late child support payments that he owes to them. If their request is granted Damon Dash will reportedly have to shell out close to $1 million of his settlement money to Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales.
