Piers Morgan To Leave “Good Morning Britain” Following Complaints Over His Meghan Markle Comments

Update #1: Piers Morgan has responded on Twitter writing:

“On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on.”

He added:

“Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”

Original Story: Piers Morgan is making headlines. According to reports, the 55-year-old TV anchor has stepped down as presenter of ITV’s Good Morning Britain following backlash over the comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex (Meghan Markle).

Piers Morgan, who has been a host for six years, is said to have received 41,000 complaints. The backlash is said to be about the comments that he made about Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

On Monday’s show, Morgan said he “didn’t believe a word” the duchess had told Oprah Winfrey in an interview.

An ITV spokesperson said:

“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Earlier today, Piers made headlines after he walked off the show while being criticized by TV co-host Alex Beresford. He returned within 10 minutes.
