Lil Nas X’s Father Defends Rapper Amid Video Of His Mother Begging On The Street: He Goes Through Great Lengths To Make Sure We’re Taken Care Of

Update #2 (April 16th): Lil Nas X’s father has come to his defense after the rapper was called out for not taking care of his mother. A video of his mother begging on the street was captured earlier this week and went viral.

Lil Nas X’s father took to Instagram to share their family’s truth. He wrote,

“Despite what people say @lilnasx is the greatest kid a parent can be BLESSED with. Although his mom is in a struggle with an addiction she’s STILL a QUEEN and he goes through great lengths to make sure we’re taking care of.”

He added,

“Those who have family members and friends dealing with addiction understands that there ain’t enough money you can throw at this situation to make it right. I dont usually address personal issues publicly but felt like this need to be. Please join us in keeping her in your PRAYERS. And to those out there trying to create a false story you wont prosper. #controlthenarrative“

Original Story (April 15th): Lil Nas X has been open about his past of becoming a hit artist after sleeping on his sister’s couch. But now the “Old Town Road” rapper is facing criticism after a video of a woman, who is allegedly his mother, begging outside of a McDonald’s surfaced online Wednesday (April 14th).

In the clip, a woman stands on a corner with a cardboard sign.

A man who is recording the video from his car asks,

“What type of n***a let their momma be on the block?… “

He references Lil Nas X’s controversial sneakers and adds,

“He out here trying to sell shoes…”

He pulls up to the woman and asks,

“Ain’t you Lil Nas’ mama?”‘

She appears to confirm that she is and he responds,

“That’s crazy. I thought I knew you.”

As the video went viral, fans called out Lil Nas X for not taking care of his mother.

Lil Nas X has previously discussed his mother’s struggle with drug addiction. He told Vanity Fair in January 2020,

“I never really talk about my mom. She’s an addict so we don’t have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better — things didn’t quite work out. But there’s still love.”
