Michael B. Jordan Is Breaking His Family’s Naming Tradition W/ Future Children: The Pressure I Had To Live Up To My Dad’s Name, I’m Not Gonna Put That On My Kid
It’s not clear if Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey are talking about kids yet, but one thing is for certain, the Without Remorse star is breaking his family’s tradition when it comes to his future children’s names.
During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres for her daytime talk show, Michael B. Jordan, whose father’s name is Michael A. Jordan, explained why his future son, if he were to have one, won’t be named Michael C. Jordan.
“I am breaking that circle right there too much. The pressure I had to live up to my dad’s name and I’m not gonna put that on my kid.”
He added,
“I’m gonna give him his own identity. He’s gotta walk in his own shoes.”
He said his one-year-old nephew Lennox has distracted his family from asking when he’ll have kids of his own.
“He bought me some time. Lennox definitely gave me a break right there.”
Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan is going strong with Lori Harvey. The two went public with their relationship in January, marking the Creed actor’s first time being open about his love life.

He explained to PEOPLE why this relationship is different and said last month,
“I’m still private, and I want to protect that, but it just felt like it was a moment of just wanting to put it out there and move on. I am extremely happy.”
He continued,
“I think when you get older, you feel more comfortable about the [public nature] of the business that we’re in. So for me, it was a moment to, I guess, take ownership of that and then get back to work.”
