Sam Asghari also shared the news on his Instagram account.
He also jokingly addressed some fans’ concerns about the pair getting a prenup. On his Instagram Story, Sam Asghari wrote:
“Thank you everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting iron clad [sic] prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase she dumps me one day [insert laughing emojis].”
The pair have been dating since 2016, and Sam Asghari is 12 years younger than Britney, 39. Notably, they met on the set of Britney Spears‘ “Slumber Party” music video.
News of Britney Spears‘ engagement comes shortly after her father, Jamie Spears, officially filed to end the pop star’s 13-year-long conservatorship. He announced his plans to step down from his conservator role last month and filed the necessary documents about a week ago. One document reads:
“As Mr. Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
The judge presiding over the case–Brenda Penny, whose son is Insecure showrunner Prentice Penny–still has to make a decision on the matter.
Congratulations to Britney Spears and Sam Asghari!
