Robin Thicke Accused Of Groping Model, Emily Ratajkowski While Filming ‘Blurred Lines’ Music Video
The now 30-year-old model, Emily Ratajkowski, is alleging that Robin Thicke groped her bare breasts from behind while filming the Blurred Lines music video in 2013. In her upcoming book, My Body, she recounts the alleged incident and writes,
“Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind. I instinctively moved away, looking back at Robin Thicke. He smiled a goofy grin and stumbled backward, his eyes concealed behind his sunglasses. My head turned to the darkness beyond the set.”

The music video in question has a controversial past because of the lyrics that continually say,“I know you want it,” and has been banned at some colleges for allegedly glorifying rape culture. In the video, there are many models, including Emily Ratajkowski, who are seen dancing in revealing clothes – some models are also topless in the video. Rappers, T.I. and Pharrell Williams were also featured in the music video and song.

But Emily Ratajkowski recalls feeling humiliated and regrets how she handled the groping. In her book, she recalls,
“I pushed my chin forward and shrugged, avoiding eye contact, feeling the heat of humiliation pump through my body. I didn’t react – not really, not like I should have.”
The director of the music video, Diane Martel, says she witnessed the alleged groping and reportedly yelled at Robin Thicke to stop. According to reports she said,
“Robin did something impulsive, he had been drinking which is not unusual on a music video set. He grabbed her breasts with two hands. Once he heard me scream and felt Emily push his hands off of her he was rattled. He realized that what he had done was insane. He sheepishly apologized.”

Ratajkowski continued to explain how the whole incident made her feel dehumanized on set. She writes,
“With that one gesture, Robin Thicke had reminded everyone on set that we women weren’t actually in charge. I didn’t have any real power as the naked girl dancing around in his music video. I was nothing more than the hired mannequin.”
Although it’s reported that the now 44-year-old singer apologized on set, he has not publicly responded to the resurfaced accusations.
