Jonah Hill Asks Fans To Refrain From Commenting On His Body: Good Or Bad It’s Not Helpful & Doesn’t Feel Good
Jonah Hill is asking people to focus on different aspects of himself other than his body.
Yesterday (Wednesday, Oct. 13th), Jonah Hill let his followers know that he doesn’t appreciate his body being a talking point. Specifically, the actor made an Instagram post that said:
“I know you mean well but I kindly ask that you not comment on my body [insert heart emoji] good or bad I want to politely let you know it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good. Much respect.”
Jonah Hill has received an outpouring of support since making his upload, with SZA commenting:
“Absolutely Love you. Thank you!!”
This upload comes about eight months after Jonah Hill addressed his weight in another Instagram post. Back in February, a publication posted photos of Jonah Hill shirtless at a Malibu beach, and the actor in turn uploaded a screenshot and wrote:
“I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my mid 30s even in front of family and friends. Probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities weren’t exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by press and interviewers. So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this and it can’t phase me anymore is dope. I’m 37 and finally love and accept myself. This isn’t a ‘good for me’ post. And it’s definitely not a ‘feel bad for me post’. It’s for the the kids who don’t take their shirt off at the pool. Have fun. You’re wonderful and awesome and perfect. All my love. Oh and Daily Mail, not even you can take that smile from my face ;).”
For context, Jonah Hill initially became known for starring in various comedy films during the mid-2000s, such as Superbad and Knocked Up. Later, at the 2011 ESPY Awards, Jonah Hill hit the red carpet with a noticeably slimmer build. He reportedly revealed that he’d lost 40 pounds, and his new physique was showed off in films like 21 Jump Street.
Since debuting his weight loss, Jonah Hill has opened up about being body-shamed and struggling with insecurity in the past. He now advocates for body positivity–even getting a tattoo on his back reading “Body Love.”
