Drake Wants $4 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Tossed Out, Plaintiff Allegedly Responded By Hanging Up On His Lawyer
Chart-topping rapper Drake is still losing his way with one of his ongoing court battles, and there’s a chance he won’t get the outcome he wants.
According to Radar Online, the 35-year-old rapper wants his $4 billion lawsuit tossed out of the courtroom. But when Drake’s lawyer, Stanton “Larry” Stein, contacted the woman who filed the suit, she allegedly hung up in his face.
The outlet reports that a woman named Mesha Collins is suing Drake for defamation. It just so happens that Mesha is the same woman who reportedly broke into the Certified Loverboy rapper’s Los Angeles home in 2017. LAPD rushed the property when a burglary was reported. Upon their arrival, they discovered empty drink containers, along with Mesha, who’d locked herself in one of Drake’s rooms. She was arrested and taken into custody; however, Drake didn’t pursue any charges due to her apparent mental health troubles.
Now, about four years later, Mesha–who was 24 at the time–is accusing the Degrassi alumni of using her name and likeness in his music and Instagram posts. She also claims that he revealed her address to the world.
According to court documents, Drake insists that he didn’t commit any crimes against her and has no clue who she is. He says that he couldn’t even identify her as the woman who broke into his home prior to this case. In the documents, he is recorded saying:
“In April 2017, somebody broke into my Los Angeles home when I was not there. At the time of that incident, I was not told any details about the trespasser, including her name.”
He continued:
“I do not know Plaintiff. I have never met her and have never communicated with her. I did not even know of Plaintiff until this lawsuit was filed and served. Indeed, I was unaware of Plaintiff’s identity, name, or where she alleges she lives until the filing and service of this lawsuit.”
Drake is allegedly still seeking to have the case dismissed and had his lawyer call Mesha, who’s representing herself, to sort things out. Of the encounter, Stanton “Larry” Stein reportedly said:
“[Mesha] expressed disbelief that counsel for Graham indeed represented Graham. She ended the call by abruptly hanging up after asking counsel for Graham not to contact her again. Attempts to meet and confer are futile.”
Stanton supports his client’s stance and agrees that the case has no merit. He allegedly commented:
“He has also not divulged private information about Collins. This is a frivolous case brought for the purpose of making contact with Graham.”
