‘The View’ Reportedly Sends ‘Open Invitation’ To Wendy Williams To Guest-Host Show

Wendy Williams might not be returning to her iconic purple chair, but there could be a seat for her on The View. Just weeks after the cancelation of her show, Radar Online reports that The View has extended an “open invitation” to Wendy Williams to appear as a guest host.

“The buzz within ABC is Wendy could well be joining The View,” a source told the website.

“There is an offer for her to appear on the show whenever she wants. The open invitation has made it very clear that when Wendy wants to give her first TV interview since losing her own show, there will always be a seat at the table for her.”

The report clarifies that it’s not an offer to host full-time, but a source noted that it could lead to recurring appearances.

“What makes The View opportunity so interesting is that this interview could open up the door to her joining the show on a recurring basis,” they said.

“It would be a chemistry test for Wendy with Whoopi [Goldberg] and the ladies. It would not be the first time The View snapped up a new co-host who had previously had their own show. When Rosie O’Donnell joined their numbers went through the roof.”

Wendy Williams, 57, has not yet addressed the report, but it comes after rumors that she’s planning a “major comeback.” For months, she’s been dealing with various health issues that caused her to take an extended break from The Wendy Williams Show. Guest hosts took over in her absence, but after roughly seven months and with no sign that she would return soon, the show was canceled in February. Sherri Shepherd‘s talk show Sherri will take its place in the fall of 2022.
