Nicki Minaj Shares She Is ‘Sober’ & ‘Loving Life’

Despite the influence of drug usage amongst celebrities and influencers, Nicki Minaj is an artist saying “no” to drugs.

On Thursday night (April 21) Nicki Minaj, 39, took to Twitter to share an update on her current way of living, while engaging with her fans online. In the tweet for her nearly 25 million followers, Nicki Minaj reflects on her behavior when she was in a state of being under the influence, letting her fans know to “be gentle with yourself.” She tweeted,

“I used to b happy when I was high.
Now I’m happy when I’m sober. No
judgement to anyone. Be gentle with yourself.” 

The announcement from Nicki Minaj, real name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, comes shortly after a follower responded to a video that Minaj posted of her preparing fried chicken and appearing to have the munchies.

The follower commented,

“baby are you high? @NICKIMINAJ” 

Minaj swiftly replied,

“No I’m sober & loving life. You ?” 

From there, fans were promoted to start mentioning Minaj with photos from her past of her looking high.

According to the Trinidadian-born rapper, her eyes naturally makes her appearance look high, especially when she’s not wearing make up. In a response tweet to her fans, Minaj explained,

“My eyes naturally look like that and ppl always think I’m high when I’m not wearing makeup.
Plus my eyes are naturally gray & I
was born in the Caribbean islands of Cuba. The 1st paragraph was 100 true tho.” 

Minaj found her break-through in the music industry with her 2010 debut album “Pink Friday” that featured her hit single “Super Bass.” She’s currently working on her fifth studio album, which is expected to hit streaming platforms this year. Her latest and fourth studio album “Queen” was dropped in August 2018.
