Kim Burrell Will Not Step Down From Church Role & Is Receiving Counsel From Pastor + Records Of Her Alleged PPP Loan Surface Online
Kim Burrell is sticking to her calling, and getting guidance from her pastor moving forward.
Gospel singer Kim Burrell caused a stir of controversy online after insensitive comments she made in church about “broke people” and “walking by faith without a mask and no vaccine.”
Burrell and her pastor, Dr. Mike Freeman of Spirit of Faith Christian Center in Baltimore, Maryland both sat down for a recent interview, discussing her return to church and remorse for her remarks.
Freeman addressed the backlash, expressing that people shouldn’t kick someone when they’re already down:
“We all love her, but we are not going to tolerate anyone speaking to us any type of way.”
“We don’t shoot our wounded soldiers. We nurse them, we provide covering for them.”
When asked if she will return to speaking, Kim answered:
“I am submitted to the call that is on my life. So with engagement, someone’s invitation or no, I am sure that I’ll have to do this again because it is my calling to do so.”
She also apologized in the interview, after a poor public response to a written apology via social media. Burrell said:
“I’m sorry is the most important thing that needs to be heard from me. And my heart is what I want the people to understand.”
Social media users have been sending Kim Burrell backlash ever since her remarks in church were made public last weekend. However, one user found and posted online documents that suggest Burrell herself received a Coronavirus-related PPP loan last year, after mentioning people who received them in her now-defamed sermon.
Users reacted in various ways to the recent findings:
