Beyoncé Reportedly Removes Kelis’ Credit & Sample From New Album After Being Accused Of Using It Without Singers Permission
Looks like R&B singer Kelis may have gotten what she wanted from the Beyoncé/Pharrell sample fiasco.
As previously reported, the “Milkshake” singer recently blasted superstar singer Mrs. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, 40, for allegedly “stealing” a sample of one of her songs for her new album Renaissance. Kelis, born Kelis Rogers, 42, was less than happy about the feature, that many wrongfully assumed was a collab. However according to sources, the sample has seemingly since been removed, and Kelis is no longer credited on the record.
The song from the grammy award winning singer’s new album titled “Energy”, previously sampled Kelis‘ renowned record “Milkshake”. Though the single was made a hit by the singer, it seems famed producer Pharrell Williams actually owns the writing credits, and remains credited on the album.
Kelis, however, accused both Beyoncé and Pharrell of purposely not making her aware of the sample. During her lengthy social media rant she stated:
“We know each other we have mutual friends, it’s not hard she can contact….It’s just common decency”

She continued:
“It was stupid and disrespectful and she should’ve at least reached out. But the real issue is….Pharrell knows better. This is a direct hit at me he does this stuff all the time it’s very petty….It’s frustrating…. I’m annoyed is because I know it was on purpose.”
In typical Bey fashion, the “I’m That Girl” singer has opted not to make any public comments regarding the matter. However one Beyhive fan account reportedly became aware that the performance credit was removed from the album.
Reportedly, Tidal music platform was the first to make the update, and other streaming platforms are expected to follow suit.
