‘The Best Man’ Franchise Director Says The Story Will End After Limited Series ‘Final Chapters’: I’ve Gone As Far As I Can With These Characters
Looks like the iconic movie franchise series The Best Man is coming to close!
The films creator and director Malcolm D. Lee confirmed in a recent interview that he plans to close the story of Lance, Harper, Jordan and the gang, following the release of the coming limited series. Both of the franchises films starred Black cinematic movie stars Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Sanaa Lathan, and Monica Calhoun, as well as Harold Perrineau, and Melissa De Sousa.
Speaking on the coming limited series, Lee gave insight on why he believes the project will be the end of the story. He stated:
“This is a fitting way to tie up the legacy of these characters. I don’t have any more stories to tell. Maybe I will in 20 more years, but the way I feel right now, I’ve gone as far as I can with these characters,”

Adding:
“Tune in because you won’t see this group for a long time afterward.”
In 1999, Lee premiered the first film, The Best Man, with a largely positive response from the audience. More than a decade later in 2013, Best Man fans everywhere were delighted to see the return of their favorite movie family of friends with The Best Man Holiday with all of the original cast.
Final Chapters will reportedly feature new characters and love interests, however. Lee says his hope is that the show is relatable for anyone going through relationship, friendship, or career issues.
The series is set to premiere on Peacock December 22nd.
