Missy Elliot Has Her Own Street In Virginia!
Legendary artist and producer Missy Elliot has officially been honored with her own street in her hometown Portsmouth, Virginia.
“Missy Elliot Boulevard” is located in Portsmouth Entertainment District and was recently unveiled. On Wednesday (September 7), the influential rapper humbly reacted to her BLVD street name via her official social media accounts. Missy Elliot, born Melissa Arnette Elliott, wrote,
“#757 VA my Grandma who passed when I was young always told me to stay PRAYED UP & DREAM BIG. A Blvd. I’m crying Tears of Joy. I have been BLESSED so much but this right here hits my heart differently. I am so HUMBLY GRATEFUL to be from P-TOWN 2up2down The ENTIRE VA.”

As previously reported, the Portsmouth City Council voted unanimously on August 9 to rename a portion of a street in the entertainment sector to “Missy Elliott Boulevard.”

The 51-year-old entertainer was born on July 1, 1971 in Portsmouth, VA. Missy Elliot reportedly still has family in the area.
