Nipsey Hussle’s Family Accuses His Ex-Girlfriend Tanisha Foster Of Alleged Substance Abuse Amid Custody Battle Of The Late Rapper’s Daughter
Nipsey Hussle’s family is doing everything they can to gain custody of the late rapper’s 13-year-old daughter Emani.
According to RadarOnline, court documents state that Nipsey Hussle’s brother Sam, sister Samantha, and mother Angelique is asking that the court deny his ex-girlfriend’s, Tanisha Foster, request for custody of Emani. Nipsey Hussle and Tanisha Foster battled for custody of their daughter for years before the rapper passed away in 2019.
Following Nipsey Hussle’s death, his family appeared in court demanding to be Emani’s guardians. They alleged that Tanisha Foster was not a fit parent and Emani would be better off raised with them. Initially, Tanisha refused to give up custody but she eventually agree to their request.
However, earlier this year, she went back to the court requesting that she be awarded custody of her daughter and for Nipsey’s family guardianship to be discarded.
Court documents state that Nipsey’s ex-girlfriend admitted that she agreed to the guardianship three years ago due to her “financial limitations,” and that the family promised they would act in Emani’s best interests. However, after the settlement, she alleged the family began to use their “financial position and influence to disregard their priorities by controlling the desires of Emani and Tanisha by withholding financial assistance and reducing visitation.” In a declaration, Tanisha wrote:
“I have continued to be an active part of Emani’s life. She spends the night with me often, I take her to school, and I continue to do the things a parent would do with their child. I am very unhappy that the guardians will not take my calls. They have blocked me on their cell phones. I have to go through a third party or Emani to communicate with the guardians.”
She added:
“There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me for regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”
Nipsey’s family has pleaded that the court should deny Emani’s mother’s request. They disclosed that Tanisha admitted to having substance abuse issues and alcohol addiction in 2019. Nipsey’s sister Samantha and a Children’s Social Worker named Rosa confirmed this information.
Samantha previously told the court about an incident in May 2019 when Tanisha allegedly appeared under the influence at Emani’s school. Samantha claimed that she’s also been evicted on more than one occasion. In addition, Sam previously told the court about an incident where Tanisha allegedly assaulted someone in the presence of Emani and other young children. He also noted that Nipsey had purchased about four to five vehicles for the mother of his child but she crashed or totaled all of them while “driving under the influence.”
A Probate Investigator’s report displayed the admission that was included and the investigator recommended that Tanisha should not be appointed guardianship due to the alleged issues that were listed, along with being unemployed at the time and having an unstable household. The investigator also noted that the mother-of-one struggled with periods of homelessness and refused to identify her boyfriend at the time.
The filing noted:
“Obviously, the behavior summarized herein endangered Emani’s well-being, but such behavior also makes Ms. Foster wholly unfit to act as guardian of the estate, and be able to manage Emani’s inheritance expected to exceed two million dollars ($2,000,000).”
As previously reported, the late rapper, born Ermias Asghedom, was fatally shot outside of his Los Angeles clothing story back in March of 2019. He left behind his daughter Emani, and his son Kross who he shares with his girlfriend Lauren London. Emani and Kross are the only beneficiaries of the estate and are expected to receive almost two million dollars.
