Nipsey Hussle — Rapper’s Family Heads To Court To Battle It Out w/ Tanisha Foster Over Custody Of His Daughter Emani
The legal battle continues over 13-year-old Emani Asghedom, the daughter of late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
According to RadarOnline, Nipsey Hussle’s family will appear in court this month to try and reach a deal with his ex-girlfriend, Tanisha Foster, as the parties battle for custody of Emani.

Tanisha Foster’s mediation with Nipsey Hussle’s brother Sam, sister Samantha, and mother Angelique is scheduled on November 30. The session’s expenses will be paid for by Nipsey’s estate.
According to the filing,
“Mediation may result in a settlement of the matter that is the subject of the above-referenced case and of any and all interested persons’ and parties’ interests therein. Settlement of the matter may result in an agreement for the distribution of assets of the Estate of Ermias Asghedom, however those interests may be held. Settlement of the matter may also result in an award of attorney’s fees to one or more parties.”
Nipsey (real name: Ermias Asghedom) was shot to death on March 31, 2019, outside his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles.
As previously reported, Nipsey’s estate predicts that Emani and his son Kross—whom he shared with Lauren London—should receive about $2 million. The rapper’s family hurried to court following his passing to request guardianship for Emani.

According to the family, they could create a better environment for the young girl, as Tanisha Foster is allegedly an unfit parent. They also accused the late rapper’s ex of substance abuse and claimed that she refused to name her boyfriend or any other residents of her home.
In addition, Sam, Nipsey’s brother, told the court of an event in which Tanisha is accused of assaulting someone in front of Emani. Following a Department of Children and Family Services inquiry, he claimed she lost her other children.
The filing noted,
“Obviously, the behavior summarized herein endangered Emani’s well-being, but such behavior also makes Ms. Foster wholly unfit to act as guardian of the estate, and be able to manage Emani’s inheritance expected to exceed two million dollars ($2,000,000).”
Tanisha previously consented to the guardianship and letting the family of the “Victory Lap” rapper have authority over decisions. However, she requested custody and filed paperwork earlier this year to end the guardianship, which she claimed “financial limitations” led her to accept.
According to her, Nipsey’s family has broken their commitment to act in Emani’s best interests. She said the family has manipulated both her and her daughter’s desires by withholding financial support, limiting visitation, and using their power and influence to neglect their priorities.
Tanisha also claimed that the family “preference” for Lauren London has worsened the case.

She wrote in a declaration,
“There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me for regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”
The guardianship’s dissolution was resisted by Nipsey’s relatives.
If a settlement cannot be reached during mediation, a hearing has been scheduled for January.
