Keke Palmer Reveals She Didn’t Initially Think She Was Pregnant Because She Misread Pregnancy Test: I Didn’t Have The Lines On There, So I Just Threw It In The Trash

Keke Palmer has officially learned the correct way how to read a home pregnancy test.  

On the latest installment of her podcast “Baby, This is Keke Palmer,” the actress revealed how she learned she and her boyfriend Darius Jackson — who appeared as a guest on the episode — were expecting their first child. Keke Palmer, real name Lauren Keyana Palmer, recalled:

“I’m feeling good. I always told myself definitely by 28 I would love to be pregnant, or at least focusing on something like this. I was like, open to it.”

The 29-year-old continued:

“Good partner, feeling really good. And so, I was like, you know what? I feel like maybe that, maybe that I am. So, I took the test, and it came back negative. I didn’t have the lines on there, so I just threw it in the trash. I just threw it in the trash.”

Keke Palmer went on to share that she was at dinner when she got a text from Darius Jackson. The “Nope” star said:

”I get a text from Darius, and he says, ‘When did you take this?’ And it’s a picture of the pregnancy test and it’s positive.”

Reportedly, Palmer and Darius Jackson went public with their relationship in August 2021, but have otherwise remained mostly private about their love life. 

Palmer continued her story and revealed her pregnancy test mishap. She said:

“I didn’t wait long enough! And I’m like, ‘I took that earlier today, like literally just some hours before I left out.’ And he said, ‘Well, you better get to be drinking water in your sight. Cause I’m buying 10 of these things right now. You take them all when you get home.’”

Palmer added:

“Soon as I come home, I, and I’m also not kidding, as soon as I come home, me and him, I do 10 of them back-to-back, back-to-back, to back, to back-to-back. All positive.”

During the podcast episode, the love birds also confirmed they’ve picked out a name for their baby. However, they didn’t share it with listeners.

Palmer recently confirmed the sex of her baby via IG after seemingly letting the gender slip during an interview. As previously reported, during the chat she expressed that her soon-to-come bundle of joy would have a zodiac sign of either a Pisces or Aries. However, as she shared, she seemingly revealed the baby’s gender by mistake. She told the interviewer:

“I mean, Pisces are known to be very deep; they’re emotional creatures. So, I just want to make sure I’m not too blunt for my baby boy.”

On Sunday (Jan. 29) she confirmed the sex of her child in an Instagram caption:

“A long time ago, in a land not so far… The King and Queen got together to play.  The play turned to love as many sunsets passed by.  Now there’s a prince, who’s soon to arrive!” 

The “Akeelah and the Bee” actress initially addressed the rumors regarding her being pregnant in December while she hosted “Saturday Night Live.” As you may have seen, she threw open her blazer to “set the record straight,” and revealed her baby bump to the audience, shouting, “I’m gonna be a mom!”
